Viewing the Map you will realize that the route of the Adlerweg symbolizes a proud eagle spreading its wings all over Tirol. Thus you’ll take a walk along the eagle’s wings, with the route winding through Tirol’s most gorgeous regions. With its 280-kilometer footpath, the Adlerweg (Eagle Trail) offers endless hiking opportunities for the day hiker, weekend overnighter, and extended backpacker. There are 31 attractive legs of different lengths and proficiency levels. The route of the Adlerweg follows the main ridge of the Alps from St. Johann in Tirol’s Unterland Region across Karwendel Massif and Innsbruck to St. Anton am Arlberg. As it winds its way through Tirol, the route climbs rugged peaks and passes pristine ponds, alpine villages and ice caves, chapels, chamois and marmots, hardwood forests and alpine gardens. You’ll walk from Kufstein Fortress through the gently rolling foothills of Lower Inn Valley, along Laliderer Walls at Karwendel Alpine Park and on renowned Zirbenweg Trail high above Tirol’s capital Innsbruck, across the „Alpine Pasture Paradise of Gaistal Valley“, past Fernstein Castle and follow the old Roman Road that winds through the Lech River Pastures Nature-2000-Preserve to the Mountain that divides Tirol and Vorarlberg, Arlberg Mountain in St. Anton.
